What's a Mac Mini?

The Mac Mini is a compact desktop computer without an integrated display from Apple. It offers powerful hardware in a small case. The Mac Mini runs the macOS operating system and is suitable for various tasks - from everyday office work to artistic projects. It is also easy to connect to various screens and devices.

Mac Mini vs. iMac: What are the differences?

The Mac Mini and iMac are two different Apple computers. The Mac Mini is not connected to a display by default and requires external devices such as a monitor, keyboard and mouse. The iMac, on the other hand, is an all-in-one computer with a Retina display. With the iMac, the computer is integrated into the display. Due to its slim design, the iMac is also a visual highlight. Thanks to powerful hardware, it is particularly suitable for creative and multimedia tasks. With the iMac, computer and screen are combined in one case. The Mac Mini, on the other hand, is a compact computer that needs to be connected to a monitor before use. Which Apple computer is best for you certainly depends on individual needs and requirements. The Mac Mini is smaller and therefore more flexible, while the iMac offers an integrated solution with a high-quality display. We will be happy to help you make the right choice!

Why the Mac Mini is so popular

The Mac Mini is particularly compact and yet very powerful. Since it is significantly cheaper than an iMac, it is an inexpensive entry into the Apple system. This makes it interesting for users who want to take advantage of macOS without investing in more expensive Mac models. The macOS operating system is considered particularly user-friendly and secure. It can also be synchronized smoothly with other Apple devices.

Trade fairs, events or training courses: rent iMac for various applications

Whether for everyday office tasks, equipping a trade show booth, or for training and conferences: The Mac Mini is versatile.

The Mac Mini can be used as a regular office computer to create documents, manage email, surf the web, and perform other everyday tasks. Its powerful hardware makes the Mac Mini well-suited for graphic design, video editing, photo editing, and other creative tasks. Applications like Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro run smoothly on the Mac Mini.

The compact Mac Mini saves space, while its powerful hardware ensures smooth operation. Plus, the Mac Mini offers a variety of connectivity options, making it easy to connect to projectors, monitors, and other tech devices.

Mac Mini M2 vs. Mac Mini M2 Pro

The current Mac Mini 2023 is available in two variants: With M2 chip and M2 Pro chip.

Visually, both are almost identical. However, they differ in processor, SSD storage and RAM in the base configuration as well as in the expansion options.

In the cheaper Mac Mini, Apple uses the M2 processor, which is also used in the MacBook Air. That means this processor has 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, along with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage in the base configuration. If you mainly want to do everyday tasks like office work or web browsing, the M2 processor's performance offers more than enough capacity. Since the M2 processor now also has a media engine, even video editing on the usual scale can be handled very well.

However, if you want to use the Mac Mini for more professional tasks, such as programming, demanding video editing or image processing, then the M2 Pro might be the better choice. This model comes standard with 512GB of SSD storage and 16GB of RAM, which bypasses potential speed issues with the 256GB version. Additionally, you get a more powerful processor.
